When you’re a first time mom, you tend to notice everything, every gurgle, giggle and burp your child makes. I admit, I used to try to stay up all night to see if I could see Little Pumpkin Doodle growing. So it was no surprise that one day after my husband changed Little Pumpkin Doodle I noticed what appeared to be a ”burn” on her leg. I asked him if he’d burned her and he looked at me as if I was losing it.
Since I live in southern California, the weather can be very warm, and it just so happened that I didn’t have LPD wear socks for a few days after I noticed the “burns.” With time, the burns cleared up and I thought maybe I was seeing things. So once again, I put socks on Little Pumpkin and the ”burns” appeared again. So that afternoon I took her to the pediatrician. When the doctor took one look at her legs, he said she was allergic to the cotton and nylon material in her socks, and suggested I switch to organic or environmentally friendly material.
I knew I wanted to go organic, but I didn’t want to spend $12.00 for two pairs of organic socks. I reached out for help. Since my mother in law and sister both live in what I consider great sources for all things organic, Oregon and Vermont; I figured if they couldn’t find me organic baby socks no one could. Well, they both came through and I was introduced to See Kai Run, bamboo socks, recycled cotton socks from the Socklady and I found Baby Legs (they sell organic leg warmers and socks for baby). The socks were adorable and her “burn” marks never appeared again. Little Pumpkin Doodle has never worn anything but organic or recycled cotton socks and has been rash free ever since.
