Fashion “Frugal” Friday

For those of you who are reading this blog for the first time, Fashion “Frugal” Friday is where I show you how I save money and still clothe my family by learning to Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse.

This week I wanted to show you what Little Pumpkin Doodle’s Nanna sent her from a resale store in Vermont. As soon as we arrived home after daycare Little Pumpkin Doodle spotted the package. Any package left on the door step in LPD’s world belongs to her.

The brand is Gymboree and I would never ask my mother in law what she paid for it. However, I know if I purchased the sweater dress in the store it would cost about $39.95.

I’ll pair the sweater dress with tights, and when she outgrows the sweater dress, I’ll pair it with jeans. When it becomes to warm outside to wear, I’ll resell the sweater at my local baby resale store for more clothing. When purchasing clothing at resale stores, I tend to stick to name brands that I know are well made like Gymboree, Gap, Laura Ashley, and Ralph Lauren.

In order to get the most wear out of LPD’s clothes I wash jeans and sweaters inside out. I dry them on a dryer rack, so when she outgrows them, they’re still in good condition for resale.

What do you do to get the most wear out of your children’s clothes? I’d love to hear from you.
